IGMA Wants Your Feedback on Proposed Product Declaration
In the never-ending quest for improvement, the
Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) has put
out a draft of its Window Product Category Rules for its
members to review. It was announced the draft would be
coming out at the recent AAMA conference in Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla. Two rules are available for public
comment—one for a cradle-to-grave, business-to-consumer
EPD that covers only vertical windows and another that
is for cradle-to-gate, business-to-business EPDs,
covering all window types.
Florida Energy Code Puts a Wrap on IGMA Conference
In many ways, the state of Florida is one of the leaders in influencing building and energy code development and implementation throughout the United States. And with fenestration being a crucial piece in the energy puzzle, the industry has a keen eye on what is happening in the Sunshine State. Last Friday, attendees of the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) 2015 Winter Conference were treated to a presentation by Florida code expert Arlene Z. Stewart of AZS Consulting. Stewart gave an update on the new Florida energy code, which goes live in just a few months.
Experts Weigh in on Sustainability, Green Efforts at IGMA
No extensive discussion regarding the modern manufacturing of building products and construction can be had without hitting on the topic of sustainability. That point was not lost on attendees at the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) 2015 Winter Conference in Fort Lauderdale this week. All the trending acronyms were discussed—LCA (life cycle assessment), EPD (environmental product declaration), PCR (product category rule), and the newer HPD (health product declaration), among others.
